Join us for “Alternative Career Paths Series — Session 3: Medical/Science Writing and Medical Communications.” This session will offer an inside look at careers in Medical and Science Writing. Writers of this type can work in academia, industry (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, etc.), for an agency, or for themselves. Our panel of experts who have transitioned into this career path will answer questions about the skills that make scientists successful in these roles, how they approached their transition away from the bench, and what their day-to-day job actually entails. Whether you're exploring options beyond academia or planning your next professional step, this workshop will provide practical insights, real‑world perspectives, and guidance to help you navigate these exciting alternative career pathways. Our panel will feature  Rachel Speer, Ph.D. , Senior Scientific Director at Decera Clinical Communications;  Yao Bian, PhD, CMPP, Director, Science Communications at Vaniam Group; Tiffany Garbutt, Ph.D., Assistant Director of Research Communications and Media & Assistant Professor, UNC-Chapel Hill; and Taliha Nadeem, Ph.D., Kite Pharmaceuticals.
