Webinar Featuring Clint Miller, Ph.D.

Thursday, April 3, 2025 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join us for our webinar with Clint Miller, Ph.D., Associate Professor at the University of Virginia in the Department of Genome Sciences. The title of his talk will be "Decoding vascular disease using integrative human genomics.”

Abstract:  Common vascular diseases such as coronary artery disease (CAD) involve both genetic and environmental risk factors over the life course. Recent meta-analyses of genome-wide association studies have identified hundreds of candidate loci associated with CAD, yet the causal genes, cell types and mechanisms remain to be established for many of these loci. Recently our group has performed single-cell analyses of coronary artery tissues to refine genetic associations and identify new insights into vascular disease risk. We have also elucidated candidate regulators of smooth muscle cell heterogeneity underlying atherosclerosis and coronary artery calcification.
